There's a major feature on Jason Luckett in the new quarterly glossy, Save the Date. I saw it yesterday and was pretty blown away*. JL's listed on the cover("The Rock" is the cover photo) and is the cover image for the Entertainment section.

Then there are 2 full page pictures, a double page spread photo, and 4 pages of text spread over the 7 pages. As for newstands, it's primarily available only in So Cal. But there's a PDF up of my bit. You can also subscribe to the magazine from their page.

Also it mentions my new music, so yeah... 30+ songs are recorded. The first grouping should be available by my birthday, next Tuesday. If you're in Southern California, come to the show. I'll be doing a lot in California up and down the coast over the next month or so. So please keep looking in and spreading the word about everything.

Next is the B-day show @ Synergy.

The Shout Corner:
The show in Ventura @ Zoey's was incredible. Thanks so much to Brendan James for playing and the new owners for making the place even warmer than in was before! And of course, thanks to all the new people in the audience that joined up here, too!

Cheers!

Of course there are the few inaccuracies...my mother's actually from Maine, and I was credited along with my sister for putting on an event at the Echo Park Film Center, that my friends Shaz and Jean-Pierre put on...the mistake is kind of charming in its context, but it was their hard work and the lovely venue that made that event so special.

March 2006

As we observe the 3rd anniversary of the Iraq War, a home video recorded at Dawn Westlake's house of Democracy at the Point of a Gun has been the top rated video on Revver.com for the entire month.

Also, the film I scored, PNOK, about two soldiers on next of kin notification duty has been accepted to the Nashville Film Festival. The film stars Danny Glover, Irma P. Hall, Elle Fanning, and Robert Ri'chard. It screens on April 21st in Nashville. The festival runs April 20 - 26.

New Song on MySpace.

On February 2, Jason Luckett performs at Los Angeles' premier singer songwriter venue, Largo, opening for the critically acclaimed, New York based artist, Chocolate Genius. KCRW will be sponsoring Chocolate Genius's Largo residency for the month of February. Jason will open the show on this night only.

Jason has also posted a new song on MySpace.com. Highway One, has been a favorite of many who've seen the shows over the past few months. Listen to the studio version here, and post your comments.

November 20, 2005

A new film, PNOK (Primary Next of Kin) features an original score by Jason Luckett. The film is directed by Carolyn McDonald and features: Danny Glover, Irma P. Hall (Collateral, The Ladykillers, Soul Food), Robert Ri'chard (Coach Carter), Elle Fanning (Dakota's little sister!), Archie Drury, Tina Lifford, and Kathryn Avery-Hansen.
A bunch of really great new friends produced and did all that other good stuff.

The first screening will take place on December 5, at 7:30, at Raleigh Studios on Melrose. Email me for invitation information.

A few groovy things...

I've just linked to a few different community sites where you can download and purchase music. Mperia.com will be really supportive by including me on their sampler CD. I'm also liking the wackiness of MySpace.

You can also check out my whole catalog on CDBaby.

Going to the Desert

Alright if you saw the show at Genghis, you might want to scoot out to the Desert and hear a lot more of what we were doing on seperate nights. I'll be in at the River in Rancho Mirage tomorrow, and Natalia Zukerman will be there Friday and Saturday. The Show was great tonight. Thanks to all that came out.

APFH on iTunes!

O.K. cutesy title for a serious subject....

I've put up four songs reflecting what I've been thinking about on the site for you to download. Three are potentials for the new disc and one is from the last. They're less upbeat than I feel after hearing Barak Obama speaking last night, but I hope empathetic explorations into what's happening inspire us to better places.

Download the songs completely. You can also hit the photo on the page to lead you to a place where you can pay for the tracks at $.99/ea.

You can also now buy track from APFH on iTunes! Please support that if you can. I think it's a great thing!

June 10, 2004

From nothing to a lot... I was having a Brian Wilson moment. I've been working on "Mystery and Wonder" for months now, my house even got messy contrasting all that Virgo rising stuff in my personality. I don't know if I'm quite in Phoenix territory this week, but I'm am getting out to do a couple shows (plus one next week up in the Central Coast for you summer vacationers). I need to play!

It's all pretty spontaneous. Nothing to promote, though I hope you'll buy some of my old discs at the gigs for your friends. I'm just playing songs, playing hard, sweating and singing with passion.

Genghis is up first on a late Wednesday, following a guy called Tony Furtado who seems pretty groovy. Showtime for me is 10:30, though I'd get there by 10 to see me, or really earlier, to catch Tony who starts at 9:30. Since it's late and last minute grab a flyer online and you'll get in for $5 instead of $7. Print it out and bring it. There's no list.

Then on Saturday,at 4:30 Est and I are playing at the LA Film Festival. We're out in the plaza where the Sunset 5 and Sam Ash are. Sunset and Crescent Heights. It seems like a great festival. Neil Young is even artist-in-residence, though there's no guarantee that he'll be wandering around while we're jamming.

See you this week.

J

I've put up a section for people to access a bunch of my music to license for film use and more. I'll write something a little more formal about it soon...but hey, it's 1 a.m. and I'm beat. But for you long term fans there are a lot of old treats up there.

More soon...

GREENPEACE TRIBUTE

I've done a short score for a tribute to Greenpeace as part of the 1st Artivist Film Festival.

The film will screen on Tuesday, April 27, as part of the tribute and awards ceremony honoring Tippi Hedren and Ed Begley Jr., benefiting and paying tribute to Greenpeace, The Humane Society of the United States, The Child Welfare league of America and Witness.

The music is a far cry from anything you're used to hearing from me, not a note of acoustic guitar, large noisescapes to represent the degradation of the environment and heroic rock to herald the arrival of Greenpeace! It's a fun piece of music. Hopefully it will encourage support for Greenpeace's efforts across the globe.

More film music info.

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED!

3/18 & 3/19/04
Preview a new song from the forthcoming disc.

From Noon until Midnight, Thursday and 9-9 on Friday a preview track from the new album will be available for a real audio broadband stream. Since the album is still months away, this is just a teaser, but hopefully it will inspire you to check out the shows and browse the lyrics for the songs tentatively set for the Spring release.

March/April '04
Shows
in preparation for the new disc.

Highly recommended for Angelenos, Thursday, April 1st, is the Musicians Collective showcase at Genghis Cohen. This is a coalition being organized by Kelly McCartney and Michelle Wernick bringing together a great group of friends and similarly spirited artists from across the US.

A few days earlier and an hour north, March 27, I'll be in Ventura. This will be my second time out at the amazing Route 101 Guitar Shop. Put on by Brian Parra of Blackbird Entertainment, these shows always bring together a warm and diverse audience to inspire a cohesive bill of artists.
