July 16: No need to really explain. Where are the WMD? The nuclear proof? It's been just exhausting...and also kind of humorous that I've been called "unpatriotic" for my views. Well patriotism has never been an ideal that I've kept in the forefront of my mind, but love, honesty, and non-violence are things I kind of dig. Glad to be able to express my views and all that, but... Anyway you've seen that this page hasn't been updated since the "war" began. I won't be adding any new music here and I'm taking off the samples that were here to make room for new music that I'm working on. Please read the lyrics and musings that remain here. Don't doubt that there will be more songs of love and peace to come. Maybe even a few of despair, but love encourages movement forward. Keep checking in at the homepage or you can even type in groovyacousticsoul.com into your browser and find me as well. (The website will probably be redesigned fairly soon.) Peace and love always...
March 24: I haven't watched the war today, but I leave tomorrow. And so I'll leave up a few songs (at a lower bitrate) for you all to listen to while I'm in the UK. Then, please buy a CD. This new one a great one! Peace and Love to you all.
March 18: Conscientious Objection...?
March 14: Hey all...updates may slow down for the next four weeks as I get ready for my trip to the UK and wander around there without a computer. But it's obviously a crucial moment, so I hope the music that is here close to daily somehow inspires you.

19 January 2003:
I met this guy backstage at the Aimee Mann show in New York last month--I name drop here because I was kind of impressed, seeing that I'd just had a crowd of 12 the night before and she's kind of a hero--and he asked me if I had a song that rhymed "banks" with "tanks". Thinking that it was a daft sort of rhyme in my present state of consciousness I sort of blew him off. But he persisted that it was around the Gulf War time and then I suddenly remembered a tune that my band used to do called "Easy" or sometimes known as "Sweet Potato Heart". This guy had seen me 12 years ago and remembered that lyric (and also the lyrics to an old song called "I'm Not Your Drug"). He reminded me that it was relevant again today...
So in that spirit--and after joining the march in downtown Los Angeles on the 11th--I decided that I wanted to give away music for peace. So here it is, the song a day for peace.
I'll be updating this page daily and leaving each song up for two days. Some of the songs date from the first Bush Administration, some earlier, and some recent. I'll be rotating songs but if you see the same title it may be a different version--unfortunately, there have been many reasons to revisit these songs over the years.
My hopes are that you'll get riled up and join a peace demonstration.
These aren't all representations of where I am musically right now. Melodies and technologies go in and out of style. But passion is timeless.
Enjoy, share, and then please buy the new CD. When I listen to these old songs I remember thinking arrogantly in those days that I was the Poop! Sometimes I sound like poop to myself. So it makes the title of the new disc "Arrogance Procrastination Fear Humility" seem all the more appropriate. I humbly offer you these songs of Peace...
